SHREVEPORT, La. — Halloween lands on a Saturday in Shreveport, La., this year, and the weather may try to crash the party. The forecast calls for a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, Oct. 31, under mostly cloudy skies with a high near 78.
The good news for trick-or-treaters is that the wettest stretch could come earlier in the day. Rain chances drop to 20% Saturday night, and only before 1 a.m., with partly cloudy skies and a low around 60. Forecasters caution that storm tracks in the region can shift from day to day, so it is worth watching updates and keeping a backup plan for outdoor events, yard displays and costumes.
The rest of the week looks dry and warm. Tuesday should be mostly cloudy with a high near 81. Wednesday turns sunny with a high near 84, and Thursday stays mostly sunny with a high near 83. Clouds build Friday, when the high drops to about 78. Showers become possible Friday night, with thunderstorms possible after 1 a.m. and a 40% chance of rain.
Sunday should clear out, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 83. A 20% chance of showers returns Sunday night, and Monday carries a 30% chance under partly sunny skies, again with a high near 83.
The calendar quirk has drawn extra attention to the holiday across Shreveport and Bossier City. The last Saturday Halloween came in 2020, when pandemic limits kept many celebrations small, and before that it was 2015. A weekend date means no school the next morning, which has helped bring more community events, decorations and adult parties this year.
