Shreveport Celebrates Generosity at Williams Companies Golf Tournament

Shreveport, LA – Community spirit was alive and well on September 13, as Williams Companies, in alliance with United Way of Northwest Louisiana (UWNWLA), held their annual golf tournament at Huntington Park Golf Course. This cherished tradition brought together numerous employees for a day of swings, laughter, and, most importantly, giving back to the community.

Record-Breaking Fundraising Efforts

This year’s tournament truly hit it out of the park, with an astounding $143,177 raised! This amount surpassed previous years, showcasing a remarkable increase of $36,000 compared to last year’s event. The funds will directly assist UWNWLA’s various programs and services designed to uplift the health, education, and financial stability of individuals and families in the Shreveport region.

Participation and Support

Hundreds of employees from Williams eagerly participated, showing their enthusiasm not only for golf but for supporting their community. Participants delighted in purchasing raffle tickets for a chance to win exciting prizes donated by many generous sponsors, further boosting the fundraising efforts. Williams Companies matched the funds raised, doubling the impact of donations made by participants and ensuring that their contributions would go even further in benefiting those in need.

Words of Commitment

Williams employees support United Way because supporting the communities where we live and work is part of who we are,” said Tye Ragle, Director of Operations for Williams Companies’ Haynesville division. His words resonate with the employees who feel a strong sense of duty to give back. The partnership with United Way enables Williams Companies to channel **charitable giving** and community engagement effectively, ensuring that proceeds make a real difference in their local communities.

A Legacy of Community Support

Williams Companies is not only known for its role in handling approximately one-third of the natural gas used across the U.S., but also for its unwavering commitment to the communities where their employees live and work. They actively support over 150 local United Way agencies through fundraising efforts and participation in community-driven programs. These include outreach programs aimed at improving the lives of families and individuals facing financial struggles.

Focus on UWNWLA Initiatives

United Way of Northwest Louisiana serves a ten-parish area, diligently working to assist families and individuals in need. They run several notable programs that include Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which promotes literacy among children, the Shreveport Financial Empowerment Center, helping residents gain better control over their finances, and the 211 health and human services hotline, providing essential support to those in crisis.

Impactful Collaborations

LaToria Thomas, President & CEO of UWNWLA, expressed her gratitude, stating, “Williams Companies is our single largest fundraising event. Their continued support, increasing donations, and commitment to improving the lives of those we serve make a substantial difference in our mission and the communities we support.” With each passing year, the collaboration between Williams Companies and UWNWLA strengthens, showcasing the profound effect they have through their combined initiatives.
