Shreveport Experiences Thunderstorms, Celebrates Centenary College Choir Performance, and Reports Election Results

Shreveport Weather and Events Update: Thunderstorms, Choir Performance, and Election Results!

Hey there, Shreveport! It looks like Mother Nature has some spring vibes in store for us today. With a 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms expected, especially in the morning, it could be a wet one out there! The temperature is expected to reach a balmy 78°F, but don’t forget your umbrella and raincoat because it’s going to be a soaker!

As we slide into the evening, the showers should start winding down, giving way to some foggy conditions overnight. If you’re planning to head out, just remember the temperature will dip to around 67°F, so you might want a light jacket as well. Winds will be light and variable, perfect for snuggling up indoors.

Centenary College Choir Hits All the Right Notes

In more cheerful news, the fabulous Centenary College Choir delivered its much-anticipated annual performance of “Rhapsody in View” this past Saturday at the First Baptist Church right here in Shreveport. This year’s show was an absolute delight, showcasing the choir’s versatility with a stunning mix of spirituals, folk songs, jazz, contemporary choral music, sea shanties, and a whole lot more!

If you missed the first show, no need to fret! You can catch the encore performance tomorrow at 3 p.m. It’s a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a lovely afternoon filled with beautiful music, all while supporting a great cause. The event is co-sponsored by the Downtown Shreveport Lions’ Club, with proceeds helping their charitable efforts in the community and supporting the Centenary College Choir. Don’t let the rain keep you away—grab a friend and enjoy an artistic afternoon!

Election Updates: A Busy Day in North Louisiana

In election news, big changes are brewing across North Louisiana! Voters headed to the polls recently to make some important decisions. One of the standout stories is that of Cleo Fields. Almost three decades after redistricting shuffled him out of the U.S. House of Representatives, he’s making a triumphant return to Washington, D.C. after clinching an outright win! What a comeback!

Also, in local police chief races, the top law enforcement officers for several municipalities were decided today. It’s always exciting to see how our community leaders are shaping up! Meanwhile, Saavy voters statewide gave a thumbs up to a new constitutional amendment aimed at putting the state’s share of federal revenues from renewable energy production towards coastal protection. Way to go, Louisiana!

Local Happenings and More

On the local front, in Mansfield, a member of the DeSoto Parish School Board has recently been appointed to fill a vacancy on the DeSoto Parish Police Jury. It’s always great to see community members stepping up to serve!

For those looking to enjoy the vibrant festivities of the State Fair of Louisiana, the opening time has been delayed today to 1 p.m. thanks to the rainy weather—so hang in there! With all the rides, food, and fun waiting for you, it’ll be worth it!

But hold onto your hats; Shreveport police have made some arrests connected to a brazen shoe store theft that was caught on video! Things are certainly buzzing in the city as authorities continue their efforts to keep our community safe.

There’s a lot going on, and whether you’re braving the rain or enjoying the music with friends, Shreveport is alive with action! Keep an eye on the forecast and stay connected with what’s happening in our vibrant community!
