Shreveport, Louisiana experienced a violent weekend as one person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting incident at an apartment complex on Saturday night, June 28. The shooting occurred around 8:45 p.m. at the Lifestyle Apartments located in the 4200 block of Lakeshore Drive.

The victim, 23-year-old Zauntravious Davis, was taken to a local hospital after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at 9:07 p.m. An autopsy has been ordered by the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death, which has now been marked as the 23rd homicide within Caddo Parish and the 18th in the city of Shreveport for 2023.

In addition to Davis, a 2-year-old girl was injured in the shooting, suffering a gunshot wound to her lower leg. Meanwhile, a 15-year-old male was grazed by a bullet during the exchange. Both individuals were taken for medical treatment, but their conditions have not been disclosed by authorities.

The Shreveport Police Department dispatched 15 units to respond to the scene, where they began gathering evidence and searching for the suspect involved in the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to this incident, and police continue to seek leads on the suspect’s whereabouts.

This shooting is the latest in a string of violent incidents that have plagued Shreveport over the past few weeks. Just days later, on July 5, another violent event unfolded at a residence on N. Windermere Drive. In this incident, 40-year-old Corinthian Shepard was found shot and killed in her home during the early morning hours.

Additionally, a man was discovered outside of Shepard’s residence with a gunshot wound to the head. He was initially reported in critical condition but has since stabilized after receiving treatment at Oschner LSU Health Shreveport. Richard Williams was later arrested and charged with second-degree homicide in connection to Shepard’s death, marking it as the 19th homicide in Shreveport this year.

The violence did not stop there, as on July 4, another shooting occurred when a 32-year-old woman was shot while driving on Interstate 20, near the I-220 ramp. She sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported to a hospital for emergency care. Specific details regarding the circumstances of this shooting or potential suspects have yet to be released by authorities.

As Shreveport continues to grapple with a heightened level of violence, the Police Department is urging the community to come forward with any information that could assist in solving these cases. Officials are actively working to reduce crime and enhance public safety in response to rising homicide rates.
