Shreveport Police Make Two Arrests in Attempted Carjacking Cases
Shreveport, Louisiana has witnessed a recent rise in attempted carjacking incidents, leading to the arrests of two suspects involved in separate cases within the past month. Authorities apprehended 23-year-old Joshua Pringle on July 2 and Tidarius Reddix related to an incident that occurred on June 7, highlighting an ongoing concern for public safety in the area.
First Incident: Joshua Pringle Arrested
The first incident involving Joshua Pringle took place in the 5800 block of Youree Drive, near popular businesses such as Rubba Boot and Andy’s Frozen Custard. According to reports, the victim was assaulted by three armed individuals who hit him in the head with a firearm while attempting to steal his car. Fortunately, the victim was able to escape and seek help.
Shreveport police, responding to the assault, managed to locate Pringle nearby. He was identified as one of the suspects involved and was promptly arrested without incident. Pringle now faces multiple charges, including carjacking, aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm. An ongoing investigation aims to identify the other two suspects involved in the attempted carjacking. Authorities are urging anyone with information about this case to contact the Shreveport Police Department at 318-673-7300 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
Second Incident: Tidarius Reddix Arrested
In another attempted carjacking incident, Tidarius Reddix was arrested involving a shooting that occurred on June 7. In this case, Reddix allegedly shot a man during the attempted carjacking while armed with a semi-automatic pistol. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm and was subsequently transported to Willis-Knighton North Medical Center for treatment.
Investigations revealed that Reddix had been dropped off at Nantucket Harbor on the day of the incident. The Shreveport Police Department’s Warrants Unit successfully tracked down and arrested him. Reddix faces a charge of one count of carjacking in connection to this case.
Background: Previous Carjacking Attempt
This wave of carjacking attempts in Shreveport echoes a similar incident that took place on May 16. In that case, Robert Gilleard, 46, attempted to carjack a woman in the parking lot next to the State Building located at the 1800 block of Fairfield Avenue. Reports indicate that Gilleard entered the backseat of the victim’s car, demanding she drive. However, the woman jumped out of the vehicle upon not seeing a weapon, prompting Gilleard to follow her out.
Witnesses noted that Gilleard then attempted to enter another vehicle but was forcefully pushed away when the driver fled the scene. Surveillance footage captured him being partially dragged by one of the vehicles he tried to carjack. Witness accounts suggest Gilleard may have attempted multiple carjackings during this spree. The son of the victim mentioned that his mother, over 60 years old, was understandably shaken by the ordeal.
As a result of these events, Gilleard has been charged with two counts of carjacking and one count of theft. Law enforcement is continuing to gather details regarding his actions, and they encourage anyone with pertinent information to reach out to the police.
In light of these incidents, Shreveport residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local authorities to ensure community safety.
