ReForm Shreveport hosts forum at LSUS to discuss housing crisis
SHREVEPORT, La. – It was a busy evening at LSU Shreveport. ReForm Shreveport hosted a forum Tuesday (April 23) discussing Shreveport’s housing crisis and efforts to be made that can make to solve this issue. It was held in the LSUS University Center Theatre.
Striving for Affordable Housing Solutions
“Tonight, we’re talking about how we can make housing affordable and what we can do on the local level to influence that. There are bigger things we can do. We see financing for big projects, but we don’t have an anchor in the community for the lower level of housing,” Reform Shreveport founder Levette Fuller said. “And tonight, Marohn is giving us pointers on what we can do with or without the government to make our communities better.”
Collaboration with Urban Planning Expert
The forum was hosted in collaboration with Charles L. Marohn, who is the founder of the influential urban planning movement Strong Towns. At the event, Marohn’s latest contributions to urban planning were highlighted. He also discussed strategies for creating stronger and more livable towns and cities, as well as actions residents can take to help the community.
Release of ‘Escaping the Housing Trap’
The event also featured the release of Marohn’s highly anticipated book titled ‘Escaping the Housing Trap.’ Watch the full discussion on YouTube.
