Shreveport – G-Unit Film & Television, LLC, owned by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, has expanded its presence in downtown Shreveport by purchasing two historic properties located at 218 and 205 Texas Street. The purchase was finalized on May 31, 2024.

Overall, the acquisition included 205 Texas Street, which sold for $345,000 and encompasses 7,200 square feet. This building has previously served as venues for nightlife, including Chicky’s Boom Boom Room and the Inferno Cigar & Hookah Lounge. The second property, 218 Texas Street, spans 13,388 square feet and sold for $275,000, although it has been vacant for a longer period and requires more substantial rehabilitation.

The two properties are positioned directly across from each other, yet they belong to different zoning sub-districts. The building at 205 Texas is located in the entertainment sub-district, while 218 Texas is situated in the central business district sub-district. Details regarding the specific future uses of these properties have not been disclosed, and the closing of the deal occurred without the presence of either party involved.

Representing the sellers was Richard John, an attorney who noted the deal’s importance for the neighborhood. Commercial real estate broker Beth King shared a positive outlook on the continued investment in Texas Street, indicating a sign of revitalization in the area. The re-occupation of these properties is seen as a significant step forward for the community.

G-Unit is already engaged in a long-term project in Shreveport, holding a 30-year lease with the city for the former Millennium Studios located at 300 Douglas Street. The company is also in the process of securing final approvals for a similar lease concerning the former Expo Hall/Stageworks facility at 400 Clyde Fant Parkway.

The plans for the Expo Hall include transforming the space into a sports and entertainment venue. This venue is expected to host a variety of events, including basketball, volleyball, boxing, and concerts, thereby enhancing the entertainment offerings in the region.

In addition, 50 Cent has announced intentions to host a Humor & Harmony festival in August 2024 in Shreveport. The event will utilize an inflatable structure in a designated parking lot to accommodate attendees, further indicating G-Unit’s commitment to engaging with the local community.

The acquisition of these properties and the planned developments by G-Unit underscore the ongoing revival and investment efforts in Shreveport’s downtown area. As initiatives unfold, the significance of these new entertainment venues could contribute to enhanced cultural and social vibrancy within the city.

The revitalization efforts are expected to create potential job opportunities and foster an environment that attracts both residents and visitors to the downtown area, marking a hopeful stage for Shreveport’s future.
