Upon impact, the collision was severe enough to shear off the driver’s side of the Ford F-250. The force of the crash caused the Jeep to roll onto its side and catch fire. First responders quickly arrived on the scene, including a sergeant from the Shreveport Police Department who was the first to assess the situation. The sergeant observed the driver of the Jeep, identified as Joshua Cochran, waving for help, and a female passenger was found partially hanging out of the burning vehicle.

The police sergeant successfully assisted in extricating the woman from the wreckage. In contrast, the driver of the Ford F-250 was found unresponsive inside his vehicle. Emergency responders from the Shreveport Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter and immediately initiated CPR on the unresponsive driver. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital soon after being transported. The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released.

Both Joshua Cochran and his passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that the passenger sustained multiple broken bones and remains hospitalized. The condition of the driver, Cochran, and the passenger is currently unknown.

Investigations revealed signs of impairment in Cochran, prompting law enforcement to take toxicology samples via a search warrant. As part of the ongoing investigation, both vehicles involved in the collision have been impounded for analysis.

Joshua Cochran has been charged with vehicular homicide and first-degree vehicular negligent injury. He remains hospitalized and will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail once he is released from medical care.
