SHREVEPORT, La. – An early morning fire sent one person to the hospital and rattled nerves in the Cedar Grove neighborhood on Monday, November 18. Just before 11 a.m., firefighters rushed to the scene on David Drive to battle an alarming blaze that threatened a one-story wooden home.

The urgency of the situation was first recognized by a resident who quickly made the 911 call. Thanks to the alertness of this quick thinker, help was on the way!

The Firefighters’ Brave Response

Upon arrival, the Shreveport Fire Department crew found a fierce scene: heavy smoke and flames billowing from the roof of the house. It was a sight that can make anyone’s heart race!

Inside the home, two people were present when the fire broke out. Thanks to a functional smoke detector, one resident was woken up just in time. They acted swiftly to rouse the other person, and both managed to escape from danger before the firefighters even got there!

The firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in just 13 minutes, with an impressive team of 24 firefighters working hard to ensure the flames didn’t spread further. Their dedication to public safety was on full display! Fortunately, none of the firefighters incurred any injuries while tackling the blaze.

Health and Safety Aftermath

While both residents made it out uneventfully, one of them experienced smoke inhalation. This person was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital for further observation. Smoke inhalation can be quite serious, and it’s a reminder of the importance of staying alert during emergencies.
