Linda passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Prior to the service, a private burial will take place at Springville Cemetery in Coushatta, Louisiana. The service will be officiated by Dr. Steven Bell.

Born on September 13, 1950, in Shreveport, Linda was the eldest daughter of Dot and Ivy D. Dupree. She spent her childhood in Coushatta, where she created lasting memories on her family’s farm. Linda pursued higher education at Louisiana State University, earning a degree in Early Childhood Education. During her college years, she was an active member of the Phi Gamma Chapter of Chi Omega Sorority.

Linda dedicated thirteen years of her career to teaching second grade at First Baptist Church School and remained intricately involved with the school community for a total of thirty-five years. Her commitment to education extended to her active participation in First Methodist Church of Shreveport, where she played a significant role in various church activities.

In addition to her work in education, Linda served on numerous boards, including the Foundation Boards for ARC of Caddo/Bossier and Christus Shreveport/Bossier. Her contributions to community development also included her involvement with Colonial Dames and the Cotillion Club. Linda was an enthusiastic traveler and a devoted supporter of LSU, a commitment that included her time on the Tiger Athletic Board.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sarah Katherine Hoopes (married to Justin) and Wesley Elizabeth Houtz (married to Carlton), along with her granddaughters, Hannah Kendrick, Katherine Kendrick, Ainsley Houtz, and Olivia Hoopes, and her grandson, Cooper Houtz. Linda is also survived by two sisters, Cindy Coffey (married to David) and Suzan Simpson (married to Michael), in addition to her niece and nephews.

The family has expressed their deep gratitude to the physicians and caregivers who provided support during Linda’s health journey, particularly recognizing Dr. Richard Michael, Kimberly Mills, RN, and the care teams from Bristol Hospice of Shreveport and Texas Neurology in Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to First Methodist Church of Shreveport, First Baptist Church School, the Dorothy A. Dupree Culinary Center at the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home, or a charity of choice.
