Caddo Council on Aging to Distribute Fans to Elderly Residents in Need
Caddo Parish, La. – July 15, 2024
The Caddo Council on Aging is reaching out to the community to assist elderly individuals in need of relief from the sweltering summer heat. The organization is distributing fans to residents aged 60 and older who do not have functioning or adequate air conditioning in their homes in Caddo Parish.
Helping the Vulnerable Population
As the temperatures rise, it becomes crucial to ensure that vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, are able to stay cool and comfortable in their homes. The lack of proper cooling systems can pose serious health risks to older individuals, especially during heatwaves.
The initiative by Caddo Council on Aging aims to provide much-needed fans to those who may otherwise struggle to stay cool during the hot summer months. Fans can make a significant difference in improving indoor comfort and reducing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
How to Receive a Fan
If you or someone you know is aged 60 or older, resides in Caddo Parish, and does not have a working air conditioner, you can request a fan through the distribution program. Fans are available for pickup from Monday to Thursday, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at 1700 Buckner Street, Suite 240, Shreveport, LA 71101.
For more information on the fan distribution process or to inquire about eligibility, please call (318) 676-7900.
Call for Donations
In addition to distributing fans to elderly residents, Caddo Council on Aging is also seeking donations from individuals, organizations, and businesses to support the initiative. By donating new fans, members of the community can contribute to keeping older individuals safe and comfortable during the summer.
Your donation can make a significant impact on the well-being of elderly residents who are in need of relief from the heat. If you are interested in donating a fan or have any questions regarding the donation process, please reach out to Caddo Council on Aging.
Ensuring Safety and Comfort
As the summer heat intensifies, ensuring that all members of the community have access to necessary cooling resources is essential. The fan distribution program by Caddo Council on Aging plays a vital role in promoting the safety and well-being of elderly individuals who may be at risk of heat-related health issues.
By coming together as a community and supporting initiatives like this, we can make a positive difference in the lives of our elders and ensure that they can stay safe and comfortable in their homes.
