Bossier City Council Candidates Heat Up the Race!
Well folks, with just eight weeks left until candidate qualifying kicks off, Bossier City is already buzzing with excitement! That’s right—five out of the seven council members have competitors eyeing their spots. Can you believe it?
The Countdown is On!
Qualifying day is set for January 29, and the pressure is mounting. Currently, only District 1’s Brian Hammons and District 5’s Vince Maggio are off the hook, as they don’t yet have challengers. For the rest, though, it’s game on!
New Faces Joining the Race
Let’s dive into the candidates! First up is Debra W. Ross, a retired registered nurse who’s stepping up to represent District 2. Ross feels that her district hasn’t had strong representation, and she’s ready to change that! She is gunning for the seat currently held by Jeffery Darby.
Meanwhile, Cliff Smith, a supporter of term limits, is ready to shake things up in District 3, currently held by Don Williams. Smith’s passion for community improvement is sure to resonate with voters looking for fresh ideas.
In District 4, we have Joel Girouard, a familiar face in the area, as a State Farm agent with an office in Shreveport. He’s setting his sights on the seat now occupied by Jeff Free.
And let’s not forget about the ever-ambitious Craton Cochran, who’s taking a leap into the race for Bossier City Council At Large. Cochran currently serves on the Bossier Parish School Board, bringing educational experience to his campaign. The current at-large councilmembers are Chris Smith, who’s seeking reelection, and David Montgomery, who hasn’t yet revealed his plans.
What About the Mayor?
Not to be left out of the conversation, the mayor’s office will also be on the ballot this March. Currently, Mayor Tommy Chandler has kept mum about his reelection plans, and surprisingly, there are no challengers publicly stepping up to the plate just yet. What do you think?
