Shreveport Mayor Arceneaux Addresses Water Rate Increase and Real Time Crime Center

SHREVEPORT, La. – Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux recently discussed significant issues facing the city, including a potential water rate increase and developments in the Real Time Crime Center. These updates come in the wake of the state’s crime session, shedding light on crucial aspects of city governance.

Water Rate Increase

Starting in April, Shreveport water customers might experience a 10% rise in their rates, as proposed by Mayor Arceneaux to enhance the water system’s infrastructure. The decision on this proposed increase now rests with the city council, with residents expressing divided opinions on the matter.

Mayor Arceneaux explained, “Our costs for providing clean water and waste removal have increased by approximately 22% since the last rate adjustment. This increase has also impacted the reserve fund that is essential for meeting obligations to bond holders.”

Real Time Crime Center

In his recent State of the City Address, Mayor Arceneaux highlighted the implementation of license plate readers by the Real Time Crime Center. He revealed, “We have successfully solved a murder case by identifying the perpetrators directly through the Real Time Crime Center.” This technological advancement has enabled law enforcement to address and mitigate security concerns in a more proactive manner.

The Real Time Crime Center continues to support police efforts in identifying trouble areas and taking necessary preventive actions where required.
