Shreveport Hosts Back-to-School Giveaways to Support Local Families

Shreveport, LA – Area businesses and community groups are joining forces to host back-to-school giveaways aimed at helping families in need. These initiatives focus on distributing essential school supplies, clothing, and footwear to students, ensuring that all children are prepared for the upcoming school year.

One of the significant events took place at Rice and Kendig Injury Attorneys, where a drive-through backpack giveaway provided 500 children with new backpacks filled with supplies. This initiative reflects the firm’s commitment to community service, emphasizing their core values of giving back to those in the area.

Another major giveaway occurred at the Highland Center, organized by Maggie Lee’s Give for Good in collaboration with Sports Spectrum. This event saw the distribution of 250 school uniforms, along with underwear, socks, and bows to assist families in ensuring their children have what they need for school. In addition, Sports Spectrum contributed by fitting and giving away 200 pairs of shoes, further supporting students preparing to return to school.

Parents expressed their gratitude for these community efforts. Many have shared that such initiatives significantly alleviate the financial burden that comes with preparing their children for school.

Looking ahead, the ASAP Copy School Uniform Giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, August 2, at 3711 Lakeshore Dr. in Shreveport. This event takes place from 9 AM to 11 AM and has been organized annually for the past four years, making it a key support system for families gearing up for the academic year. This year, the event promises to offer a variety of new and gently used school uniforms suitable for elementary, middle, and high school students.

In addition to school uniforms, the ASAP event will include 50 backpacks filled with school supplies, available on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate, registration is required. Interested individuals can reserve a spot by calling the designated phone numbers.

Donations for the ASAP event are welcomed and can be made at the designated location during business hours until Friday, August 1. This collaborative effort reflects the community’s dedication to ensuring that every child has the necessary resources to start school with confidence.

The initiatives taken by local businesses and community groups in Shreveport are critical in addressing the challenges faced by families during back-to-school season. With the ongoing support of both individual donors and local organizations, these giveaways are making a significant impact in the community, helping to ease the financial burden of back-to-school preparations.

As Shreveport continues to rally around its students and families, these giveaways not only provide tangible resources but also foster a sense of community and support, reinforcing the notion that together, the community can create a positive change in the lives of many.
