Shreveport, Louisiana – The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has launched a Back-to-School Supply Drive aimed at assisting local children who are in need of essential school supplies. The drive will run until August 8, 2025, and community members are encouraged to contribute by dropping off donations at Sheriff’s Safety Town, located at 8910 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport, La.

The primary goal of this initiative is to ensure that every child in the community is adequately prepared for the upcoming school year. Donations will help alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by families, allowing children to focus on their education without the stress of lacking necessary supplies.

The Back-to-School Supply Drive will include a series of supply giveaways scheduled throughout the Shreveport-Bossier area as the school year approaches. Various events are planned to distribute school supplies effectively, making it easier for families to receive help.

Upcoming Events

The drive will kick off with the #FightForYou Summer Soiree, hosted by RISE Shreveport on July 12, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bill Cockrell Park. This event is designed to raise awareness and gather support for local students.

A Drive-Thru Backpack Giveaway is set for July 25, running from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 912 Kings Hwy, Shreveport. This event aims to provide students with backpacks filled with essential supplies, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On July 26, another First Come, First Served Backpack and School Supply Giveaway will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Safety Town, where additional supplies will be distributed to local families.

Children will also have the opportunity to receive free vision screenings, provided by the North Shreveport Lions Club, on July 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bossier Civic Center.

The community can look forward to the 3rd Annual Back to School Giveaway hosted by Friends of Devin along with Caddo Parish Parks & Recreation on August 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Booker T Washington High School, providing more options for families to gather supplies.

On August 9, a Back to School Drive will take place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Common Ground Church, including free haircuts and hairdos, ensuring children look their best as they start the school year.

The Back-to-School Supply Drive is sponsored by Red River Chevrolet and Bossier Federal Credit Union, which are committed to easing the financial burdens on families and promoting educational readiness among children. Their support ensures that the necessary resources are available to help local youth succeed academically.
