Shreveport – The Shreveport Police Department has reported the arrest of two men linked to separate attempted carjacking incidents that occurred in recent months, highlighting a troubling trend of violent vehicle thefts in the area. Joshua Pringle, 23, and Tidarius Reddix are both facing serious charges following their involvement in different occurrences of attempted carjackings.

The most recent incident involved Joshua Pringle, who was arrested on July 2 in the 5800 block of Youree Drive. Pringle allegedly assaulted a victim during an attempted carjacking with the aid of two armed accomplices. Reports indicate that he struck the victim in the head with a firearm, but the victim managed to escape and subsequently contacted law enforcement. Pringle has been charged with carjacking, aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm. He was apprehended without incident days later.

Earlier, on June 7, Tidarius Reddix attempted to carjack a person while brandishing a semi-automatic pistol in the 4650 Lakeshore Drive area. In an unexpected twist, Reddix and the intended victim exchanged gunfire, resulting in Reddix suffering a gunshot wound. He was transported to Willis-Knighton North hospital for medical treatment and is currently facing a charge of carjacking.

The Shreveport Police Department has also investigated another attempted carjacking involving Robert Gilleard, 46 years old, which took place on May 16 in the 1800 block of Fairfield Avenue, near the State Building. Gilleard allegedly entered the backseat of a vehicle and instructed the female driver to drive. However, the driver, not observing any visible weapon, quickly exited the vehicle. Gilleard also attempted to hijack several other vehicles and was partially dragged by one during his escape attempt. He faces two counts of carjacking and one count of theft.

As of now, detectives from the Shreveport Police Department are continuing their investigations into these incidents, looking for additional accomplices connected to Pringle and Reddix. The authorities are also urging anyone with more information about these carjackings or related activities to come forward and assist in their inquiries.

Shreveport residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the Shreveport Police Department at 318-673-7300 or to contact Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. The community has been significantly impacted by these incidents, and local officials are aware of the heightened concerns regarding safety and crime in the area.

The rise in attempted carjackings in Shreveport reflects a larger trend seen in various urban areas, where car thefts and violent confrontations surrounding vehicles have become more common in recent years. As the police work to address and mitigate this ongoing issue, updates will continue to be provided through community channels.

In light of these events, the Shreveport Police Department is ensuring that the public remains informed about safety measures and ongoing efforts to combat carjacking and other vehicular crimes.
