Shreveport, Louisiana – Two separate incidents involving gunfire have left multiple individuals, including a child, injured in Shreveport. The first shooting occurred on Saturday night, June 28, at the Lifestyle Apartments on Lakeshore Drive, while the second incident involved a 3-year-old girl who accidentally shot herself at Westwood Village Apartments.

The Shreveport Police Department received a call about the shooting at the Lifestyle Apartments at approximately 8:43 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found that one adult male had sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital. In addition to the adult male, a 2-year-old girl had suffered a gunshot wound to her lower leg, and a 15-year-old male was grazed by a bullet. Following the incident, a total of fifteen police units were dispatched to the scene to begin an investigation and locate the suspect involved in the shooting.

The second incident took place on Tuesday night at Westwood Village Apartments, located near the intersection of Raspberry and Financial Plaza. A 3-year-old girl accidentally shot herself in the abdomen when a friend of her stepfather placed a gun on a table and subsequently left the apartment with the stepfather. The child was reported to be in critical condition and was taken to Ochsner LSU Health hospital for treatment. Despite her serious injuries, police noted that the girl remained calm throughout the ordeal.

Following the accidental shooting, police recovered a .40-caliber firearm from the apartment where the incident occurred. The individual who owned the gun has been arrested, and police are currently holding the child’s stepfather for questioning regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.

These two shootings highlight ongoing concerns about gun safety and violence in the Shreveport area. Law enforcement officials are continuing their efforts to locate suspects and investigate the situations that led to these tragic incidents. Community members are urged to provide any information that may assist police investigations.

The Shreveport Police Department has implemented various measures to address gun-related incidents in the past. They regularly conduct awareness programs aimed at educating the public about safe storage practices for firearms, especially in households with children. The department emphasizes the importance of keeping guns locked away and out of reach to prevent accidental discharges.

As investigations into both shootings progress, authorities are focused on providing the necessary support to the victims and their families. The community is rallying together in response to these events, highlighting the need for improved safety measures and awareness surrounding gun ownership.
