Shreveport kicked off its 39th summer season of the Shreveport Farmers’ Market on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Located at Festival Plaza, 101 Crockett St., the market will operate every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon until August 23, 2025. This popular community event features more than 75 vendors offering an array of homegrown produce, homemade foods, and handcrafted items.

Market Manager Emerie Eck Holtzclaw emphasized the market’s role as a celebration of community and expressed a warm welcome to both returning and new visitors. The market aims to unite local residents and promote regional agriculture while providing fresh and high-quality products.

Each week, visitors can enjoy live music performances and cooking demonstrations, which are showcased on a stage sponsored by Live! Casino and Hotel Louisiana. Special events throughout the season add to the attraction, such as a visit from Jazzy, Louisiana’s Spokesberry, scheduled for June 7, and “Revel Retro,” a pop-up tent featuring past Revel merchandise on the second Saturday of each month.

Food options at the market highlight local culinary culture, featuring breakfast and lunch selections. Attendees can also enjoy mimosas and specialty cocktails available from Fatty Arbuckle’s pop-up bar, making it not only a market for goods but also a vibrant dining experience.

Significantly, the Shreveport Farmers’ Market is the only USDA-approved market in the Shreveport-Bossier area, which underscored its commitment to providing safe and nutritious food options. The market invites shoppers who use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, which are accepted at the market, to take advantage of matched purchases. Through a partnership with Greaux the Good, SNAP shoppers can receive up to $40 in matched purchases, further enhancing access to fresh produce while supporting local farmers and artisans.

The event is free to attend, and most vendors accept credit and debit cards, with an ATM available on-site for convenience. Although the market has a no pets policy, service animals are welcomed. Additionally, free parking is accessible on surrounding streets and in adjacent lots, with designated parking available for individuals with disabilities next to Festival Plaza.

The Shreveport Farmers’ Market has been a cherished community institution since its inception, providing not only a platform for local farmers and artisans to sell their goods but also a gathering place for residents to come together. Over the years, it has evolved to meet the needs and preferences of the community while remaining focused on promoting local agriculture and sustainability.

As the market enters another season, it continues to attract a diverse crowd eager for fresh produce, unique crafts, and a sense of community. With its various offerings and engaging atmosphere, the Shreveport Farmers’ Market promises to be a vibrant destination through the summer of 2025.
