The lease includes provisions for the local community, highlighting G-Unit’s commitment to Shreveport.

Shreveport – Celebrity rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent made an unexpected visit to Fit Nation gym in Bossier City, Shreveport, delighting gym-goers and staff alike. The surprise visit occurred when the front desk received a request for a significant number of day passes, leading to an influx of fans and onlookers before staff realized the famous rapper was on-site.

Fit Nation later shared the incident on their Facebook page, expressing gratitude to 50 Cent for choosing their gym during his stay in the area. The post featured photos of 50 Cent interacting with guests and local police officers and garnered over 70 shares as members expressed pride in the celebrity’s visit.

Approximately a month prior to the gym visitation, 50 Cent and Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux celebrated a video call to mark the official signing of a lease agreement for Stageworks, a venue he is set to transform into a sports and entertainment hub. The Shreveport City Council unanimously approved the lease during a recent meeting, paving the way for the rapper’s G-Unit Films & Television to take over the property.

The lease agreement, which spans 30 years with a 15-year renewal option, sets a monthly rental rate of $200. Under this agreement, G-Unit will be responsible for the maintenance and operational costs of the venue. The Stageworks facility is expected to be a versatile space hosting a variety of events including basketball and volleyball leagues, boxing, MMA matches, seminars, auto shows, and concerts.

Discussions regarding the lease began in May 2024, but negotiations faced delays. Following the city council’s vote in favor of the plan, 50 Cent expressed his affection for Shreveport, noting that it feels like a second home. The rapper also reassured council members of his commitment to exceeding expectations with projects related to the Stageworks facility.

The City of Shreveport has invested $4.7 million in renovating the Stageworks building, located at the corner of Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway and Fannin Street in downtown Shreveport, turning it into a fully functional sports complex that had not been actively marketed before securing the lease with G-Unit.

Additionally, as part of the lease agreement, G-Unit Films & Television plans to implement and develop workforce initiatives aimed at benefiting the local community. The approval of the lease also includes a right of first refusal for G-Unit to purchase the Stageworks building in the future. The Shreveport City Council is also considering potential additional lease agreements with G-Unit for other properties within the Red River District area, expanding the scope of collaboration between the city and the entertainment company.
