SHREVEPORT, La. — A 37-year-old man from Minden is dead after two vehicles collided Saturday afternoon on the west side of Shreveport, near Shreveport Regional Airport.

The wreck happened at about 2 p.m. on Halloween where Hollywood Avenue meets Bethune, Shreveport police said. Four people were taken to hospitals for treatment, and a child was among those hurt. Authorities have not said which vehicle each of the injured people was riding in.

The Minden man was taken to Ochsner LSU Health, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office released his identity on Sunday, a day after the collision.

The Shreveport Police Department is investigating what caused the collision. Police have not said how the crash unfolded, whether speed or impairment played a role, whether anyone will face a citation, or what condition the other injured people were in as of Sunday. They also have not said how old the injured child is or whether the child’s injuries were considered serious. No other details about the people in the second vehicle have been made public.

Hollywood Avenue is one of the main routes on the city’s west side and carries traffic toward the airport area. Anyone who saw the crash or has dash camera video from the area around 2 p.m. Saturday can contact the Shreveport Police Department, which handles crash investigations inside the city limits.
